Beta: How to view FBX file in VR?
Step-by-step guide to view your FBX files in VR using Meta Quest headsets
SENTIO VR offers a streamlined workflow for importing FBX files into Virtual Reality (VR) for immersive design review. This guide will take you through each step to prepare, upload, and view your FBX models directly within SENTIO VR, enabling immersive client presentations and design walkthroughs.
Preparing Your FBX File
ℹ️ File size of models allowed currently is 250 MB
To ensure a smooth VR experience, optimize your mesh and textures to simplify high-poly models for better performance on VR headsets like Meta Quest. Set up materials compatible with VR and apply realistic textures, as these will be visible in the VR environment. Confirm that the scaling is correct for real-world representation in VR.
Uploading Your FBX File to SENTIO VR
Once your FBX file is ready, log into SENTIO VR and access your dashboard. Select the option to upload new content, choose “3D Walkthrough” as the content type, and upload your FBX file. After uploading, wait for the processing to finish in a few minutes depending on the file size and note down your access code for VR
Viewing the FBX Model in Dollhouse mode
After processing is complete, open the SENTIO VR app on your Meta Quest or compatible VR headset. Enter the 6 digit code of your design or account and you will see the model placed in dollhouse mode. You can scale or rotate the model in order to set it properly or even use Mixed Reality mode to to view it in the real-world context through passthrough.
Viewing the FBX Model in 1:1 scale
The 1:1 scale mode in SENTIO VR lets you experience your model in life-size scale, creating an immersive and realistic environment for design reviews. In this mode, the VR menu provides access to a suite of design review tools, including measurement, annotations, drawing tools, and the ability to capture screenshots. You can also adjust sun settings to observe lighting effects, switch between fly and walk modes for flexible navigation, and teleport within the model. Additionally, you can initiate a collaborative meeting with stakeholders, allowing them to join from VR or PC for a shared, interactive review experience.
